Fairies in the

Grass (2022)

Project roles: Director, writer, animator

This past summer, I wrote a poem about how I used to search for fairies as a kid. It was a bit messy, rhythmically clunky and didn't rhyme but I was content with the fact that I was writing poetry again. A few days, or maybe a week, later I returned to the poem and wrote the version that exists today. I loved it so much that I decided to center a film around it and that's how "Fairies in the Grass" was born!

Project (2020)

Project roles: Director, animator

Director’s Statement: “While watching this film, I wanted the viewer to experience a feeling of calm. My goal was to immerse them in a world that was both warm and peaceful and my use of color was intentional in creating such an atmosphere. I hope this short animation gives viewers a brief escape from the challenges of their own personal lives and transports them to a world of utter peace, joy and bliss. This short animation will always be special to me because it's my first narrative animation and because it brings to life a world where Black women can be carefree and exist in an environment that is both loving and kind.”
